We are the newest place in Cape Maclear, on the lake shore and in the centre of Chembe village. We are a camping site with our own permanent tents and camping facilities. All our permanent tents have beds and mattresses etc. We have single, double, family size, (4/5/6 people) tents, and a big dorm tent. Bring your own tent and we still have space for you to camp. We have a great beach braai area and a few potjie pots for you to use. You can watch the sunset as you cook your evening meal. We have our own kitchen and can supply you with cooked meals:- breakfast, lunch, snacks, and evening meals. We provide good 'home cooking' type food. Or bar is not finished yet, still being built, but we can still provide you with beers, (ice cold of course), and various spirits and soft drinks.If you want to cook for yourselves you are welcome to do so, and we have an onsite shop if you run out of supplies.We are trying to be environmentally friendly where possible and use solar power for hot water and some lighting. We want to increase our solar power usage where and when we can.We have our own boats for hire and these include local lake boats for trips to the nearby islands, snorkeling trips, sundowner cruises, fishing trips, and speed boats for skiing, wake boarding and tubing. We have a small catamaran for you sailing enthusiasts, African dugout canoes for you test your skills, North American canoes and small inflatable dinghies for you to explore the Cape Maclear coastline. We also have a lake transfer boat shuttle service to and from Cape Maclear, Senga Bay, and Monkey Bay.Vehicle
How to get there - Malambe Camp CampsiteFrom Blantyre and Lilongwe there are some reasonable roads and many are undergoing construction. The local mini buses and 'matolas' offer a cheap but sometimes time consuming journey from all major centres to Cape Maclear/Monkey Bay. With your own transport it takes plus/minus 4 hours to drive from Blantyre or Lilongwe. We also offer an airport transfer service and a lake shuttle service from Salima and Monkey Bay.We also have good contacts with other lodges for your stays in Blantye, Lilongwe, Senga Bay and other places. |
